The Campo Group was established in 1978 with the initial goal of developing the agricultural potential of the Brazilian Cerrado region. It coordinated one of Brazil’s largest agricultural development programs: PRODECER.
With over 40 years of experience in this market, our professionals have already worked in South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania, and are always aiming to promote social and economic development through sustainable tropical agriculture.
The Brazilian Agribusiness Value Chain guarantees the food security of our country’s population at levels far above the world average while also helping to feed millions of people all over the world.
Since 1978, CAMPO has beenplaying a key role towards this goal.
A Japanese Mission, composed of Japanese central government authorities and
representatives of private companies, arrives in Brazil to discuss the creation of the
Japanese-Brazilian Cooperation Program for the Agricultural Development of the
Cerrados (PRODECER).
Studies for the implementation of PRODECER begin.
Creation of the management company that will implement the program, the
Agricultural Promotion Company – CAMPO.
PRODECER I (pilot) – is implemented in the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais –
64.300 ha.
PRODECER II – is implemented in the Brazilian States of Minas Gerais, Goiás,
Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso and Bahia – 205.700 ha.
Creation of CAMPO’s Laboratory facilities: the Biotechnology Lab and the Center for Environmental and Agricultural Technology.
PRODECER III – is implemented in the Brazilian States of Tocantins and
Maranhão- 80.000 ha.
CAMPO’s internationalization process begins: the Equator Project
End of the PRODECER cycle.
– International expansion of CAMPO’s services in agro-industrial project consulting, implementation, and operation to the following countries: Mozambique, Venezuela, Indonesia, Guyana, Angola, Ghana, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, Nigeria, and Zambia.
PRODECER is declared the World’s Largest Agricultural Project at the United
Nations Conference on Sustainable Development – RIO + 20.
