Our History

The Brazilian Agribusiness Value Chain guarantees the food security of our
country’s population at levels far above the world averages while also helping
to feed millions of people all over the world. Since 1978, CAMPO has been
playing a key role towards the accomplishment of this goal.

1973

A Japanese Mission, composed of Japanese central government authorities and
representatives of private companies, arrives in Brazil to discuss the creation of the
Japanese-Brazilian Cooperation Program for the Agricultural Development of the
Cerrados (PRODECER).

1975

Studies for the implementation of PRODECER begin.

1978

Creation of the management company that will the implement the program, the
Agricultural Promotion Company – CAMPO.

1979

PRODECER I (pilot) – is implemented in the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais –
64.300 ha.

1985

PRODECER II – is implemented in the Brazilian States of Minas Gerais, Goiás,
Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso and Bahia – 205.700 ha.

1994

Establishment of CAMPO’s laboratory facilities (Biotechnology Lab and
Environmental and Agricultural Technology Center).

1995

PRODECER III – is implemented in the Brazilian States of Tocantins and
Maranhão- 80.000 ha.

CAMPO’s internationalization process begins: the Equator Project

2001

End of the PRODECER cycle.

2006

International Expansion of CAMPO’s consultancy Agribusiness Project implementation and operation to: services, and of Mozambique, Venezuela,
Indonesia, Guyana, Angola, Ghana, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, Nigeria, and
Zambia.

2012

PRODECER is declared the World’s Largest Agricultural Project at the United
Nations Conference on Sustainable Development – RIO + 20, in Rio de Janeiro.

2019

CAMPO has highly qualified professionals to work on large-scale projects in Brazil and abroad.
